Armchair Butterfly

The Armchair Butterfly Brown, also known as the BKF chair, was created in 1938 by the designers Bonet, Kurchan, and Ferrari who were working with the Le Corbusier Studio on the BKF Chair (we all know the Le Corbusier Chair). The BKF chair takes its name from the initials of these three architects and designers. The chair was developed for an Apartment Building in Buenos Aires but was quickly picked up by a US publication as the ‘newly invented Argentinian Easy Chair – “for siesta sitting” and by 1940 the chair had been awarded 2nd prize in the prestigious “Salon de Artistas Decoradores” exhibition. This publicity attracted the attention of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and also Frank Lloyd Wright for his famous “Falling water” House. The rest is History.
